Why do Ouija boards attract evil spirits?

May 21st, 2010

Question:
There are many ways of communicating with spirits such as Astral Projection, automatic writing, channeling, etc. and these are generally considered positive. Yet Ouija boards are often alleged to result in bad things happening, such as people getting physically attacked. And it is not just Evangelical Christians who believe this about Ouija boards, even many Wiccans won’t touch them. What makes Ouija boards attract evil spirits?

Personally, as a Wiccan who has used a Ouija board in the past, I stay very far away from them for a pretty simple non-scientific, non-spiritual reason.
    Bad experiences.

They do not neccessarily attract evil spirits, but they attract ALL spirits instead of most divination tools which are cleansed before use, therefore only attracting positive spirits.

The point of any divination is to become one with your subconscious, which is your individual link to the universe and our true self. If one happens to be close to a negative spirit at the time of divination, one feels compelled to bring themselves out again. However the key to any successful and positive contact with a spirit is to cleanse the tools being used and the area so that the summoner is protected.

Oh and to those who think witchcraft is the work of the devil, you are narrow minded and ignorant and have fallen under the curses of the misguided institutions you claim to worship. Please do not try to spread your negative and thrust your beliefs in others faces where your opinion is not welcome. Unless you didn’t realize this site is “About the Occult”. If you don’t like it, you probably shouldnt have googles yourself here in the first place.

    Blessed be. Xx

Its more of an invention aimed at the curious.
The rumors are even better than the board itself.

Why try to commune with evil spirits at all. It’s all bad!

  4. EndlessMountain says:

Fear! People perceive this to be evil, and because they think of it as evil it attracts evil! Why this works and why it attracts spirits, I do not know, you’d have to ask the spirits that. But if you use positive energy, and a correct mind set, the positive spirits are capable of using it. However, 99% of people whom use it see it as evil and use the emotion fear, so that is why. The law of attraction.

    peace, love and light :)

    They dont.

Parker Brothers, the company that manufactured Ouiga is down the street from me. We all laugh at people who buy those things because they believe in them. They’re made out of particle board and plastic and paper.

    1. Ouija boards are toys that let you communicate with your subconscious mind – a well known psychology effect called the ideomotor effect ( http://ln-s.net/23Ih ).

    2. There’s nothing evil or supernatural about them.

    3. Superstitious folk are afraid of them because they feel they may attract ghosts, demons or spirits (none of these exist, of course).

    4. In reality, they’re as dangerous as chess boards.
